During a disaster, SLC Alert will be activated to notify Salt Lake City residents & businesses of danger or provide emergency instructions. The majority of phone numbers for traditional telephones, (home phone & pbx), have been loaded in the system, and are updated regularly. But, the system doesn’t have non-public information, such as how to reach people via text & email.
If your phone service fails during a disaster, there’s a chance you may have access to emergency information on your smart phone, laptop, or via text messaging.
Salt Lake City residents & business employees can sign up to receive emergency alerts via electronic contact paths. Simply go to www.slcalert.com & register.
